Overview

DarkCell is a severe weather dashboard. We do not require an account to use the public landing page or the live app, and we do not sell personal information. This policy explains the limited information that may be processed when you visit or use DarkCell.

Information We Collect

DarkCell may process basic technical information such as IP address, user agent, requested URLs, timestamps, referrer headers, error logs, and rate-limit/security events. This information is used to operate the site, diagnose issues, prevent abuse, and protect the service.

The live app may use short-lived security or session cookies to protect API endpoints and limit abuse. These cookies are not used to create a personal account.

Information We Do Not Collect

DarkCell does not collect login credentials, payment information, precise user identity, or account profile data through this public weather dashboard. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information.

How Information Is Used

Technical information is used to serve the website and app, monitor reliability, investigate errors, enforce rate limits, mitigate abuse, and understand aggregate platform usage.

Third-Party Services

DarkCell may rely on third-party infrastructure and data providers, including Cloudflare for DNS, caching, security, and traffic protection; hosting providers for server infrastructure; Google Fonts for web font delivery; and public weather or mapping data sources such as the National Weather Service, NOAA, the Storm Prediction Center, the National Hurricane Center, Iowa Environmental Mesonet, Spotter Network, Aviation Weather Center, and map tile providers used by the live app.

When your browser requests resources from these providers, those providers may receive technical information such as your IP address and user agent under their own policies.

Data Retention

Access logs and security logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for operations, troubleshooting, analytics, and abuse prevention, unless a longer retention period is required to investigate misuse or comply with legal obligations.

Security

DarkCell is served over HTTPS. We use reasonable operational safeguards, rate limits, and infrastructure protections to keep the service available and reduce abuse.

Your Choices

You can limit cookies or third-party requests through your browser settings, though some parts of the live app may not work correctly if security cookies or required network requests are blocked.
